Ruptured cornual ectopic pregnancy - Surgical management Cornual ectopic pregnancy is a rare occurrence with 2-4 % of all tubal ectopic pregnancies. It is more dangerous because when rupture occurs there is torrential bleed from muscular cover. We had a patient who presented with severe abdominal pain of short duration. She was treated outside for ? Appendicitis owing to right sided abdominal pain. The patient was not sure of her LMP. Pregnancy test was positive on admission and Ultrasound was done which confirmed Hemoperitoneum and right adnexal mass. She was immediately posted for Laparoscopy and cornual resection with salpingectomy was performed. Hemoperitoneum and clots were suctioned out and specimen removed and sent for Histopathology. With prompt anesthesia care and post operative monitoring in ICU, patient showed rapid recovery and was discharged after 24 hours highlighting the obvious advantages of minimal access surgery. Laparoscopy is now proven first line management in such patients except when the patient is hemodynamically unstable.
